Fire Danger Level Remains Extremely High

The Connecticut Department of Emergency Management and Homeland Security, in partnership with the Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection, have had an extremely busy week tending to brush fires.

This week, fire officials had responded to 35 brush fires statewide. As of 4:30 p.m., on Saturday, October 26, six (6) of these fires remained active, including the Lamentation Mountain/Hawthorne Fire in Berlin and Meriden.

The City has temporarily banned ALL outdoor burning, which includes campfires, fire pits, brush, charcoal grilling and fireworks. Also, please be careful with how you dispose of cigarettes, matches and other smoking materials.
